Publication-quality figure specifications--The FASEB Journal

Publication-quality figure specifications

The editorial office must have publication-quality figures if your manuscript is accepted for publication. Authors are encouraged to submit publication-quality figures with revised manuscripts, if their papers have been accepted for publication pending minor revisions.

Authors must submit figures electronically. Please create each figure as a separate file. Do not embed figures in the manuscript.

Preferred image formats are:
.eps (Encapsulated PostScript - vector)
.ppt (Microsoft PowerPoint)
.pdf (Adobe Acrobat)
.tif (Tagged Image File Format - raster).

High-resolution raster images (TIFF) should be created at 300 dpi for RGB or 600 dpi for grayscale images.

All color images should be created and saved in RGB color space. Figures that re to be printed in grayscale should be saved as grayscale.

For details on how to optimize your figures for publication click here.

Please do not include legends on your figure files. Place legends at the end of your manuscript file.

After creating their figure files, authors should check their suitability for publication with Rapid Inspector , an application that can determine the suitability of an image file for publication. Sign up at the Rapid Inspector Web site, and download the application. Rapid Inspector requires the use of Internet Explorer 5.0 and greater or Netscape 7.0 and greater. A list of system requirements is available.
