  Mitochondria tracking of an axonal segment of a cultured hippocampal neuron transfected with a mitochondrial targeting sequence tagged with YFP. The movie consists of 60 images collected every 20 seconds over 20 minutes and has a size of 58 μm × 58 μm. The proximal part of the axon is localized at the bottom of the image. Individual mitochondria move anterogradely and retrogradely within the axonal segment with a velocity of approximately 0.4- 0.5 μm/sec.
