A) Endogenous maspin modulates MCF-10A cell adhesion, which involves its physical interaction with beta 1 integrin and with cytoskeleton. Addition of anti-maspin down-regulates cell adhesion. B) MCF-10A cells in suspension were incubated with recombinant GST-maspin, which modulates beta1 integrin and cytoskeleton function, leading to an increase in cell adhesion to extracellular matrix. This activity is independent of maspin RSL domain (not depicted).
