Figure 2. Schema representing our working hypothesis. ANXA1 is posttranslational modified by LPS triggered signal (1). Such modification induces a translocation of the protein to the cellular membrane where it is further membrane transported (2). Both phosphorylation and lipidation (directly on the protein or other molecules e.g., signal transduction proteins) may contribute (possibly through a conformational change) to exportation outside the plasma membrane (3).
