Figure 2. Schematic representation of effects of VEGF and PlGF on tumor vasculogenesis. VEGF has been shown to increase the numbers of circulating EPCs in several models. In this study, we show that enhanced tumor-associated VEGF and PlGF can enhance vasculogenesis. VEGFRs modulate EPC recruitment and vessel formation at tumor site.
