obese African-American males. Supplemental calcium was provided in the
form of two cups of yogurt/day. Calcium intake was estimated from
random prospective dietary records collected 1 day each week for each
subject throughout the study. Baseline dietary calcium was estimated,
during a 4 wk lead-in period, to be 447 ± 126 mg/day and
increased to 1029 ± 74 mg/day during the 12 months of
