COX-2 inhibitors selectively block prostacyclin synthesis in endotoxin exposed vascular smooth muscle cells
FASEB J. Schildknecht et al. 10.1096/fj.03-0609fje

Supplemental Data

Bovine smooth muscle cells demonstrated a lack of elevated prostacyclin synthase nitration within the first 12 h of LPS incubation. Since COX-2 shows a biphasic induction pattern, nitration may become of functional interest in progressive stages of LPS exposure (>24 h). Absence of nitration rather depends on the deficiency of nitric oxide than on superoxide.
